About Tracey
Tracey Pepper is a Los Angeles-based writer, editor, and media trainer specializing in music, health, and fitness. She is a former Senior Editor for Spin magazine in New York, where she worked for seven years editing profiles, news, and pop-culture pieces by such high-profile authors as Chuck Klosterman, Marc Spitz, and Andy Greenwald. She has also worked as a music editor at Interview magazine in New York and as a Senior Editor at Natural Health magazine in Los Angeles. As a writer, Pepper’s work has appeared in Spin, Entertainment Weekly, Harper’s Bazaar, The New Yorker (”Goings On About Town”), Playboy, Teen People, Interview, Cosmo Girl, Natural Health, Vegetarian Times, Stuff, Us, The Face, Paper, Chicago Magazine, and The New York Observer, where she worked as a reporter. Pepper holds a master’s degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and a B.A. in English from Tufts University.
In addition to helping clients refine their interview technique through media training, Pepper creates a wide range of editorial content, including artist bios, music-industry executive bios, press releases, and EPK interview footage, for Warner Bros. Records, Sony Music Entertainment, EMI Music Group, Interscope Records, and 19 Entertainment (American Idol), as well as for several independent PR and artist management companies. She has written original publicity bios for Josh Groban, Katy Perry, Leona Lewis, Kings of Leon, David Cook, Sean Kingston, Ben Folds, Chris Cornell, OneRepublic, Michael Bublé, Gavin DeGraw, Joss Stone, Daniel Merriweather, Chris Isaak, Seal, Crowded House, Judy Collins, Indigo Girls, Kylie Minogue, Clay Aiken, and Ashley Tisdale, as well as for music-industry executives Alexandra Patsavas, Jason Flom, Pat Magnarella, and the founders of Crush Management. She has also helped her clients launch major press campaigns for various albums, tours, and web promotions by creating press releases for Metallica, Green Day, Eminem, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Norah Jones, R.E.M., My Chemical Romance, Disturbed, Serj Tankian, Rosanne Cash, Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, Devo, Lindsey Buckingham, and classical pianist Lang Lang, among many others.
Pepper’s work experience extends beyond the music industry. She has written and edited several fitness booklets for DVD/infomercial companies Guthy-Renker (Winsor Pilates, Malibu Pilates, Zumba) and Beach Body (Brazilian Butt Lift), cast bios for an upcoming network reality television series, celebrity Q&A’s for Vegetarian Times, content for an extensive press kit for non-profit organization Generosity Water, plus various executive speeches, media pitch letters, and official corporate and artist press statements.
